Test Automation

Our test automation services design and build frameworks that your team can actually maintain: browser, API, mobile and component tests running in CI with reports people read. We choose tools by fit rather than habit, and we write the tests with the same care as production code.

Choosing the right test automation framework

Playwright has become the default for new web projects because of its auto-waiting, multi-browser support and trace viewer. Cypress suits teams that value in-browser debugging and component testing, and Selenium remains sensible where a large Java or C# estate or a Grid already exists. For mobile we use Appium, with Espresso and XCUITest when native speed matters. We confirm the choice with a short trial first.

The decision depends on your stack, your team's language skills and what must be tested. We compare options against your application in a short proof of concept, then commit, so you are not locked into a fashionable tool that nobody on your team can debug. Cypress suits teams that value in-browser debugging and component testing, and Selenium remains sensible where a large Java or C# estate or a Grid already exists.

Keeping automated tests stable

Most automation fails through flakiness, not missing coverage. We design for stability with page objects or screen-play patterns, locators based on accessible roles and test ids, isolated data created through APIs and no reliance on test order. Shared state and sleep statements are the usual culprits, and we remove them. For mobile we use Appium, with Espresso and XCUITest when native speed matters, and we say plainly when a test is better left manual.

Tests run in parallel containers, retries are visible rather than hidden, and flaky tests are quarantined with an owner and a deadline. The suite is judged by how much developers trust a red build, which is the metric that decides whether automation survives. We keep helper layers thin, so a locator change touches one file rather than fifty, and new engineers can read a test without learning a custom language.

Automation inside the pipeline

A fast tier of unit and API tests runs on every pull request, a smoke set of user journeys runs on merge, and the full regression runs nightly or before release. Results flow into Allure or a similar report with screenshots, traces and logs attached to each failure. The suite is judged by how much developers trust a red build, which is the metric that decides whether automation survives the first year.

AI assistants help us draft test scaffolding, convert manual cases into scripts and propose locators after a UI change. An engineer reviews each output, because generated tests can pass while checking nothing meaningful. Accessibility scans with axe and visual comparisons can be added to the same run, without needing a separate toolchain or a second reporting dashboard. We also keep generated code out of the critical path until it has earned trust through a few release cycles.

What we do

What our Test Automation team delivers

Specific work we do for clients, with the senior people who do it.

  • Framework design

A framework structure with conventions, utilities, data handling and reporting, documented so your engineers can extend it without calling us.

  • Web UI automation

Reliable browser tests in Playwright, Cypress or Selenium, covering critical journeys across Chromium, Firefox and WebKit with parallel execution.

  • API automation

Fast service-level tests using REST Assured, Postman and Newman, or Supertest, validating contracts, authorization and error handling without a browser.

  • Mobile automation

Appium, Espresso and XCUITest suites running on real device clouds, with attention to gestures, permissions, interruptions and varying network conditions.

  • Visual and component tests

Component-level checks and visual regression comparisons that catch layout drift in design systems before screens reach end-to-end tests.

  • Flaky test remediation

Diagnosis and repair of unreliable suites, including root cause analysis, test isolation, environment fixes and a plan to keep them healthy.

Outcomes

What you can expect

Every engagement is tied to measurable business results, not just deliverables.

01

Regression in minutes

Parallel execution and a sensible test pyramid reduce regression from days of manual effort to a pipeline stage developers wait for.

02

Trusted red builds

Stable tests mean a failure signals a real problem, so teams stop ignoring the pipeline and fix issues while context is fresh.

03

Automation you own

Code lives in your repository with documentation and pairing sessions, so maintenance stays with your team after handover.

FAQ

Test Automation FAQs

Straight answers on cost, timelines, IP ownership, team setup and how we work. Cannot find yours? Ask a solutions architect directly.

Which test automation tool should we choose: Playwright, Cypress or Selenium?

Playwright is a strong default for new web apps. Cypress fits JavaScript teams who want component tests and easy debugging. Selenium suits existing Java or .NET estates. We confirm the choice with a short proof of concept on your application.

What should we automate first?

Start with stable, high-value paths: login, checkout or core transactions, plus API checks for critical services. Avoid automating screens that change weekly. A thin smoke suite that runs on every merge beats a huge suite nobody trusts.

How do you deal with flaky tests?

We find the cause, which is usually shared data, timing assumptions or unstable environments. Fixes include isolated test data, proper waits, deterministic mocks and parallel-safe design. Tests we cannot fix quickly are quarantined with an owner.

Will we be able to maintain the framework ourselves?

Yes, that is the design goal. We use conventional patterns, document them, keep everything in your repository and pair with your engineers during the build so ownership transfers naturally. We also record short walkthrough videos for new joiners.
