About hiring SharePoint engineers
Everything to know before you hire SharePoint talent
Speqto provides SharePoint developers who build SPFx web parts, design intranets people actually visit, automate document workflows and migrate older farms to SharePoint Online. This page is for IT managers and internal communications owners who want to hire SharePoint developers and need to compare skills, vetting and engagement options.
Server-side SharePoint solutions are largely history for new work. Today, developers build client-side web parts and extensions with the SharePoint Framework, using TypeScript and React, and ship them as packages through the app catalog. They use Microsoft Graph, PnPjs and the SharePoint REST API, apply Fluent UI so pages feel native, and write code that respects themes, permissions and accessibility.
Good developers also know where not to code. Communication sites, hub sites, site templates, lists with column formatting and content types solve many needs without any custom component. Information architecture is part of the job: metadata, navigation, permissions and search settings decide whether people find anything. A developer who asks about your content before proposing web parts usually delivers a better result.
Intranets, workflows and governance
An intranet succeeds when content owners keep it fresh and employees find it useful. Developers support that with news templates, role-based targeting, search refinements, embedded Viva Connections and Teams integration. They avoid brittle page hacks and respect modern page patterns, so editors can work without calling IT every time they need a layout change. Content owners are trained alongside the build, so ownership is clear from launch.
Workflow automation now runs on Power Automate, Power Apps forms and approvals, with SharePoint lists or Dataverse behind them. Governance matters because sites multiply: lifecycle policies, sensitivity labels, sharing rules, external access, and permissions that follow groups rather than individuals. Copilot readiness depends on exactly this housekeeping, since AI search surfaces whatever permissions allow, including oversharing mistakes nobody noticed. Reviews are scheduled so rules stay current.
Migration, vetting and engagement
Migration from SharePoint 2013, 2016 or 2019 to SharePoint Online starts with inventory: what is used, what is stale, what is customized. Tools like the SharePoint Migration Tool and third-party platforms move content, while developers rebuild or replace custom solutions, fix broken links and remap permissions. We recommend pilot waves and clear communication to end users before any large move.
Candidates are assessed on SPFx exercises, information architecture questions, Power Automate experience and security awareness. You see profiles in about two business days. Engagements range from one developer maintaining your tenant to a small team running a migration, with weekly demos, full IP assignment, NDAs on request and 30 days notice to scale up or down. Hand-over guides are part of every delivery.

How to hire
Hire SharePoint talent in four steps
A short, low-risk path from your brief to a working engineer. If the first engineer is not right, we replace them.
1
Share your brief
Tell us the role, stack, hours overlap and how long you need the engineer. A 20-minute call is usually enough.
2
Get vetted profiles
In about two business days you receive candidates with assessment notes, code samples and availability.
3
Interview and trial
Speak to the engineers yourself. Start with a short paid trial and continue only if the fit is right.
4
Onboard and ship
Your engineer joins stand-ups and repositories, demos weekly and is backed by a delivery lead.

SPFx is the SharePoint Framework for building client-side web parts and extensions with TypeScript and modern web tooling. It runs in the user's context, works across SharePoint Online and Teams, and replaced older server-side solutions for new development.
Can you migrate from SharePoint on-premises to SharePoint Online?
Yes. We inventory content and customizations, retire stale material, migrate in waves with the Migration Tool or other platforms, rebuild solutions that cannot move, and verify permissions and links. A pilot group usually goes first.
Do we need a developer, or can site owners configure SharePoint themselves?
Many needs are covered by configuration: lists, views, hub sites and templates. A developer is useful for custom web parts, integrations, complex workflows, large migrations and governance automation. We can advise where configuration is enough.
How does SharePoint governance affect Microsoft Copilot?
Copilot searches content users can already access, so poor permissions expose more than expected. Cleaning up oversharing, applying sensitivity labels and archiving stale sites should come before broad rollout. A developer can script much of that clean-up.
