About Offshore Development Center in India
How Offshore Development Center in India works in practice
An offshore development center is an extension of your engineering organization located in India, staffed by people who work only for you. This page explains how an ODC differs from outsourcing, what Speqto handles in Noida and Surat, how the first six months usually run, and how to keep the center connected to headquarters.
ODC versus outsourcing
With outsourcing you buy an outcome, and the vendor decides how to produce it. With an offshore development center you build a team that behaves like your own office: your roadmap, your culture, your engineering standards. The difference shows up in how people are hired, how they are trained, and who they feel they work for. Think of Speqto as the facilities and operations partner, and yourself as the engineering leadership of the center.
Speqto operates the center on your behalf. We provide the workspace in Noida or Surat, equipment, payroll, statutory compliance, HR and IT administration. You provide direction. Setting up your own Indian subsidiary becomes optional rather than a prerequisite, which removes months of registration and banking before the first engineer starts. The same arrangement lets you pilot the model with a handful of engineers and expand once you see how the center fits with your headquarters team, without sunk cost in property or local legal structure.
A realistic first six months
Month one is hiring plans, role definitions and a small founding team: usually a lead and two or three engineers who then help interview the rest. Months two to four add people in waves, with onboarding that mirrors what a new hire at your headquarters would receive. By month six the center should carry real ownership of a module or product area.
Expect friction. Early on, decisions bottleneck on one or two people in your home office, and the remote team hesitates to ask questions. Counter this with documented decisions, recorded design reviews, a visit by someone from headquarters in the first quarter, and weekly demos that put the work in front of your leadership. Plan these touchpoints into the budget from the start, since they pay back in trust and fewer misunderstandings.
Keeping the center connected to headquarters
Time-zone overlap is the lever you control. Indian working hours reach into the European morning with a comfortable window, and a staggered shift can cover part of the US East Coast morning. Agree core overlap hours, protect them for design and review discussions, and move status updates into written form. Staggered shifts cost the individual engineers something, so use them sparingly and rotate fairly rather than treating them as an unlimited resource.
Security and IP need explicit design: endpoint management, VPN or zero-trust access, role-based repository access and a clear policy for AI tooling. You receive full IP assignment and an NDA on request. If you later want your own entity, we can transition the center using a build-operate-transfer arrangement. Audits of access rights each quarter, and logging of source code and data movements, give your security team the evidence it will want to see before approving the setup for sensitive products.
What is included
What you get from the first week
Center planning and hiring plan
We define team structure, role profiles, seniority mix and a hiring sequence tied to your product roadmap and budget.
Workspace and IT provisioning
Offices, devices, secure networks and software licenses are arranged and managed, so engineers are productive from the first morning.
Recruitment and onboarding
We source, screen and onboard engineers using your interview criteria, and train them on your codebase and engineering standards.
Payroll, HR and compliance
Local employment contracts, benefits, statutory filings and leave administration are handled for everyone working in your center, so you avoid building an HR function early.
Delivery and culture management
A center lead keeps rituals, communication and quality aligned with headquarters, flags problems early and acts as the daily bridge between the two sites.
Transition options
When you are ready, the center can convert into your own Indian entity through a planned transfer of people and assets.
How it runs
A typical engagement, step by step
Pick a stage to see what happens. Timings are typical, not promises.
Days 1-2
Share the brief
Roles, stack, hours overlap and how long you need people. A 20-minute call is usually enough.
Days 2-5
Meet matched profiles
You receive vetted profiles with assessment notes and interview the engineers yourself.
Week 1-2
Onboard into your tools
Access, repositories, stand-ups and a first-sprint plan agreed with a named delivery lead.
Every week
Deliver and demo
Working software each week, reports on progress and risks, and direct access to every engineer.
Monthly
Review and adjust
Add or release engineers with 30 days notice as the roadmap changes.

FAQ
Offshore Development Center in India FAQs
Straight answers on cost, timelines, IP ownership, team setup and how we work. Cannot find yours? Ask a solutions architect directly.
Do I need an Indian company to start an offshore development center?
Not at the start. Speqto can employ and administer the team under our own entity while you direct the work. If you later want your own subsidiary, a build-operate-transfer arrangement can move the people and assets across in a planned way.
Where will my offshore development center in India be located?
Speqto is headquartered in Noida and also has a presence in Surat. We discuss which location suits your hiring needs, the talent pool for your stack and any customer or compliance requirements before choosing. Visits to either site are welcome.
How is an ODC different from a dedicated development team?
A dedicated team is an exclusive squad that Speqto manages. An ODC is closer to a satellite office you shape: more of your culture, your hiring input, your management and usually a larger scale, with Speqto handling operations.
How do you protect our intellectual property in an ODC?
The agreement assigns all IP to you and we sign an NDA on request. Technically, we use managed devices, role-based repository access and logged, least-privilege environments. We agree rules for AI tools on your code together before any work starts.
