Clean core and side-by-side extension

SAP's clean core principle asks customers to keep the ERP close to standard and put custom logic elsewhere. In practice that means using released APIs, in-app extensibility and SAP Business Technology Platform instead of modifying standard objects. Upgrades become smaller events, and custom code is easier to test and retire. Standard behavior is also better documented and supported by SAP.

We help classify existing custom ABAP into keep, rebuild, replace or delete, using usage data and code analysis rather than assumption. Many Z-programs are unused, and removing them before migration shrinks cost and risk considerably. Side-by-side apps typically run on SAP Business Technology Platform with the Cloud Application Programming model, calling released APIs and receiving business events. They can be built, tested and released independently, so a change to a sales approval screen no longer waits for an ERP transport window or risks affecting finance postings.

Integrating SAP with the rest of the estate

SAP exposes data through OData services, BAPIs, IDocs, RFC and, in newer releases, business events. We connect these to e-commerce, CRM, warehouse, banking and analytics platforms through SAP Integration Suite or independent middleware, selecting patterns by volume and timing. Master data ownership and error queues are agreed upfront. Released APIs and clear contracts reduce surprises. Monitoring dashboards show message volumes, failures and aging, so support teams can act before month-end.

Typical failures include silently dropped messages, duplicate postings and unclear responsibility when a document fails. We design monitoring and reprocessing paths so finance and logistics teams can see and fix exceptions without developer help. Message design is where many integrations succeed or fail. Keys, versioning, ordering and payload size need to be agreed, and exceptions need a person who owns them. Where possible, we use event-driven flows so downstream systems react to changes instead of polling the ERP and adding load to the transactional database.

Supporting an S/4HANA migration

Migration is a business program, not only a technical one. Choices include greenfield, brownfield conversion or selective data transition, and each affects custom code, historical data and downtime. We contribute to custom code remediation, interface re-pointing, data cleansing and test automation around the surrounding systems. Cutover rehearsals should include integrations, since interface failures often appear only when real volumes arrive.

Our role complements your SAP implementation partner rather than replacing it. We cover integration, extension apps and data tooling, and use AI to speed up code analysis and documentation, with experienced SAP specialists reviewing every conclusion. We also prepare business users for the change: simplified Fiori roles, updated test scripts and short guides for exception handling.
