Customer-facing teams: support, sales and marketing
In support, AI drafts replies from the knowledge base, tags and routes tickets, summarizes long threads and answers common questions in chat, with escalation for anything sensitive. In sales it prepares account research, summarizes calls, updates CRM fields and scores inbound leads, saving reps from administrative work. Gains tend to be largest where staff currently re-type, search or read the same material repeatedly.
Marketing teams use it for first drafts, variant testing, audience segmentation and search-intent analysis. The recurring risk is brand and accuracy: output needs a review step, grounded sources and style rules. Customer-facing automation should start with suggestions to staff and widen to direct replies only as measured quality justifies it. Quality control matters here as much as speed, so sampling and escalation rules should be designed before launch.
