Where Drupal outperforms lighter CMS options
Drupal's strength is structured content and fine-grained permissions. Entities, fields, taxonomies and views let you model rich content such as courses, events, research output or legal documents, then reuse it across pages and channels. Editorial workflow states, revisions and role-based access suit organizations where several teams publish under approval. Search, taxonomy and related content features also benefit from the structured approach.
That power has a learning curve, and small brochure sites rarely need it. We say so early. If your needs are simple, a lighter CMS saves money, but for multisite estates, multilingual sites and complex editorial roles Drupal remains a sound choice. We run content modeling workshops with editors before building anything, mapping content types, relationships and workflow states. Decisions about reuse versus duplication are easiest to make on a whiteboard, and they shape the whole site, so they deserve more time than the theme.
