Fast Transactions

Fast transaction processing means payments, trades and transfers complete quickly without ever losing or duplicating money. Speqto designs and tunes low-latency architectures for wallets, exchanges and payment platforms, for engineering leaders who are hitting limits on throughput, response time or reconciliation accuracy.

Speed is a budget, not a feature

Begin by defining what fast means: confirmation time seen by the user, throughput in transactions per second, and tail latency such as the 99th percentile. Averages hide the slow outliers that customers remember. We measure each hop, including network, authentication, risk checks, database writes and third-party calls, then spend a latency budget where it matters. Network proximity helps: placing services in the same region and availability zone as your processor or node provider can cut hundreds of milliseconds.

Often the slowest part is outside your control: card network authorization, bank rails, or blockchain confirmation. Design then focuses on perceived speed, with instant optimistic states clearly labeled as pending, while ensuring that final status is never misrepresented. Careful use of connection pooling, keep-alive and HTTP/2 or gRPC avoids repeated handshakes that quietly add delay. Timeouts are tuned. Results are reviewed with your team after each release.

Architecture patterns for correctness at speed

Correctness comes before speed in money systems. We use double-entry ledgers, idempotency keys, optimistic or pessimistic locking chosen per hot path, and transactional outbox patterns so events are published exactly when a database change commits. Message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ decouple slow work from the customer's request. Hot accounts, such as a platform fee wallet, create contention, so we split or batch updates rather than letting every payment lock one row.

For performance, we separate synchronous essentials from asynchronous follow-ups, cache reference data in Redis, shard hot accounts, and tune PostgreSQL indexes and connection pooling. Exchanges may need in-memory order books and matching engines written in Go, Rust or C++. We avoid exotic choices until profiling shows the simpler ones have run out. Backpressure and circuit breakers stop a slow dependency from consuming all threads and dragging the rest of the platform down.

Load testing, blockchain throughput and reconciliation

Claims of speed mean little without evidence. We build realistic load tests with k6 or Gatling, including bursts, retries and downstream failures, and trace slow requests with OpenTelemetry. Chaos-style tests confirm that a failed dependency degrades service gracefully rather than corrupting balances. Settlement is separate from authorization: the customer sees success quickly, while ledgers and bank settlement continue in the background.

On blockchain products, throughput depends on the chain. Layer 2 networks, batching, off-chain state channels or faster base chains can reduce cost and confirmation time, with trade-offs in security assumptions. Whatever the rail, nightly and real-time reconciliation against bank, provider and chain records detects mismatches early, which protects both customers and your finance team. Mempool conditions, gas fees and reorg risk also shape user experience on public chains, so the interface should explain what is happening.

What we do

What our Fast Transactions team delivers

Specific work we do for clients, with the senior people who do it.

  • Latency and throughput audit

Profiling the full transaction path to find the real bottlenecks and set targets that match your product and users.

  • Ledger and balance design

Double-entry ledgers with idempotency and consistency guarantees that stay correct under retries and concurrency. Retries stay safe. Retries remain safe under concurrency.

  • Event-driven payment flows

Queue-based processing with outbox patterns that keep customer requests quick and downstream steps reliable. Failures are retried safely.

  • Database and cache tuning

Indexing, partitioning, pooling and caching to keep hot paths fast without risking stale balances. Hot paths stay fast.

  • Load and resilience testing

Realistic traffic, failure injection and tracing that show how the system behaves before real customers find out. Includes recovery drills.

  • Reconciliation automation

Automated matching of internal records with banks, processors and blockchains, with exception queues for investigation. Mismatches are escalated promptly.

FAQ

Fast Transactions FAQs

Straight answers on cost, timelines, IP ownership, team setup and how we work. Cannot find yours? Ask a solutions architect directly.

How fast can a payment system be?

Internal processing can take milliseconds, but total time depends on external parties such as card networks, banks and blockchains. We optimize what you control and design clear pending states for what you do not. Customers see the pending status meanwhile.

How do you prevent duplicate transactions?

With idempotency keys on every payment request, unique constraints in the database and careful retry handling. If a client retries after a timeout, the system recognizes the original request and returns its result. Duplicate protection survives network errors.

Should we use microservices for high-speed transactions?

Not by default. Extra network hops add latency and failure points. A well-structured monolith or a few focused services often outperforms a fragmented design. We split only where scaling or ownership requires it. Add services only when needed.

Can a blockchain app confirm payments quickly?

Depending on the chain, finality can take seconds to minutes. Layer 2 networks, faster base chains and off-chain batching improve speed, each with trade-offs in security and decentralization that we explain before choosing. Security trade-offs are explained first.
