CRM Development

CRM development covers building a custom customer relationship system, extending an existing one, or connecting it to the rest of your stack. Speqto works with founders and sales and operations leaders who must decide between buying, configuring and building, and who want a team that gives an honest answer on each.

Build, buy or extend: choosing the right CRM path

A custom CRM is rarely the right first move. Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and Dynamics already handle contacts, pipelines and reporting. Building makes sense when your process is the product, when license costs scale badly with user counts, or when the CRM must be embedded inside a larger platform such as a marketplace or lending system. License cost and data ownership shape the decision.

We compare options with you on total cost over several years, data ownership, integration needs and how often the process changes. Sometimes the answer is a configured SaaS tool plus a thin custom layer. We will say so, even when it means a smaller engagement for us. Sales leaders often learn that a mid-priced SaaS tier with a few automations covers most of what they thought required custom code. The remaining gap is where a small build adds value.

What a custom CRM actually contains

The core is a data model for accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, activities and custom entities, with a permission system that handles teams, territories and record sharing. Around it sit pipeline views, task automation, email and calendar sync, document handling, audit trails and reporting. Import tools and duplicate detection matter more than most teams expect. Seat-based pricing can look cheap at ten users and painful at two hundred, so we model license cost against a realistic headcount forecast, not today's team.

Modern builds add AI where it saves real time: summarizing call notes, drafting follow-ups, suggesting next actions and extracting fields from emails. These features depend on clean data and clear review steps, so they are introduced after the basics work and always keep a human in the loop. Search is a feature people judge quickly. Fast lookup across contacts, companies and notes decides whether reps trust the tool or keep a private spreadsheet beside it, so we invest in indexing early.

Integrations, migration and adoption

A CRM fails quietly when people stop trusting it. We connect it to marketing automation, billing, support desk, telephony and ERP through APIs and webhooks, using queues so a slow partner system never blocks a salesperson. Single sign-on and role mapping keep access consistent with your identity provider. Webhooks and background queues also give you replay options when a partner system is down, so a missed update becomes a delayed update rather than lost data.

Migration from spreadsheets or an older CRM follows a written plan covering field mapping, cleansing, history retention and parallel running. Short weekly demos let the sales team react to real screens early, which improves adoption far more than a launch-day training session. Adoption metrics such as weekly active users, records updated and pipeline hygiene are tracked after launch, and we use them to decide what to simplify.

Two-way connections between your CRM and ERP, billing, marketing, support and telephony systems, built with queues and monitoring.

  • CRM migration

Planned moves from spreadsheets or legacy tools, including cleansing, deduplication, history mapping and parallel running before cutover. Includes field mapping.

  • Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho extension

Custom objects, apps and automation on top of leading platforms when configuration alone cannot meet the requirement. Covers rollback planning.

  • Mobile CRM apps

Field-friendly apps with offline capture, location check-ins and quick activity logging for sales and service teams on the move.

  • AI features for CRM

Call summarization, lead scoring, email drafting and data extraction added where your data quality and review process support them.

FAQ

CRM Development FAQs

Straight answers on cost, timelines, IP ownership, team setup and how we work. Cannot find yours? Ask a solutions architect directly.

Is it better to build a custom CRM or buy one?

Buy when your process looks like most sales teams. Build when the CRM is part of your product, when seat licenses become prohibitive, or when workflows are too unusual to configure. A hybrid with a SaaS core and custom modules is common.

How long does CRM development take?

It depends on scope. A focused internal CRM can be usable within a few months, while a platform with many integrations takes longer. A discovery phase produces a phased plan so the first release covers the highest-value workflows.

Can you integrate our existing CRM with an ERP?

Yes. We connect CRMs to ERPs such as SAP, Odoo or Dynamics through APIs, events or middleware, define which system owns each field, and add reconciliation reports so mismatches are caught early. Each sync has a documented owner and logs.

How do you handle data migration into a new CRM?

We map fields, clean and deduplicate records, decide how much history to keep, and run trial imports. Teams often run both systems briefly in parallel, which exposes gaps before the old tool is switched off.
