Why quality engineering differs from testing
Traditional QA receives a finished build and looks for defects. Quality engineering starts earlier, asking whether the requirement is testable, whether the design can be observed in production and whether the change is small enough to review properly. The testers on your team become engineers who design feedback loops, not people who file tickets at the end of a sprint.
The practical effect is fewer surprises. Acceptance criteria are written as examples before coding begins, unit and integration tests run on every pull request, and a failing check blocks the merge instead of a meeting. Manual exploratory work remains, but it is aimed at risk rather than repetition. The aim is that nobody needs to ask for a status update, because the pipeline and the dashboard already answer it for the whole team.
