About hiring Azure engineers
Everything to know before you hire Azure talent
Speqto provides Azure developers who build and run applications on App Service, Functions, AKS and Azure AI services, with pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions. This page is for engineering leaders in Microsoft-heavy organizations who want to hire Azure developers and need to judge skills, vetting and engagement terms.
Azure is strongest when your organization already runs on Microsoft identity, Microsoft 365, SQL Server or .NET. A good Azure developer understands Microsoft Entra ID for authentication and managed identities for service-to-service access, so secrets are not scattered through configuration. They design landing zones with management groups, subscriptions and policy, not a single sprawling subscription. Landing zones keep growth orderly.
For application hosting they choose between App Service, Azure Functions, Container Apps and AKS based on the workload. Data choices include Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL flexible server and Blob Storage. Integration usually runs through Service Bus, Event Grid and API Management, and the engineer should explain why each fits. Good engineers resist adding services just because Azure offers them.
Azure AI, DevOps pipelines and hybrid reality
Many teams now come to Azure for Azure OpenAI Service, AI Search and the surrounding tooling. A capable developer builds retrieval-augmented generation with proper chunking, access control on documents, content filtering and cost limits, rather than a demo that leaks data. We bring AI-first practices to these builds, including evaluation sets that catch regressions in answer quality. Costs per query are measured early, before usage grows.
Delivery runs through Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions, with Bicep or Terraform for infrastructure. Reality is often hybrid, so expect experience with VPN or ExpressRoute connectivity, Azure Arc, and migrating on-premises .NET and SQL Server workloads in stages. Our engineers plan rollbacks and parallel running instead of big-bang cutovers. Cutovers are rehearsed in a staging subscription first. Each step is documented for handover.
Vetting, cost and engagement model
We assess candidates on Azure architecture reasoning, a hands-on infrastructure task, security fundamentals and communication. Certifications are a useful signal but never the whole story, so we ask for explanations of real design decisions. Profiles reach you in about two business days, and you interview before committing. We also ask how candidates handled a production outage, because calm judgment under pressure matters as much as syntax.
Azure cost control means tagging, budgets in Microsoft Cost Management, reservations for steady workloads, and cleaning up forgotten test resources. Engagements can be a single engineer, a platform pod or a mixed team with .NET developers and QA. You get weekly demos, full IP assignment, NDAs on request and 30 days notice to scale up or down. Reports are shared with finance so nobody is surprised by the monthly invoice.
Why teams hire from Speqto
A bench, not a single freelancer
If an engineer is unavailable or the fit is wrong, a replacement comes from the same bench, with knowledge handed over.
Web apps and event-driven services on App Service, Functions and Container Apps, with slots, scaling rules and managed identity configured.
AKS platform engineering
Kubernetes clusters on Azure with ingress, workload identity, autoscaling and GitOps-style deployments for production services. Includes upgrades, node pool design and cost-aware scaling.
Azure OpenAI and AI Search
Retrieval-augmented generation, copilots and document intelligence on Azure, with access control, evaluation sets and spend limits. Includes document chunking, citations and logging for review.
Azure DevOps pipelines
Build and release pipelines, environments, approvals and infrastructure deployments in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions with Bicep or Terraform.
Migration from on-premises
Staged moves of .NET applications and SQL Server databases to Azure, with parallel running, rollback plans and network connectivity design.
Governance and cost management
Management groups, Azure Policy, tagging, budgets and reservations that keep subscriptions tidy and spending visible. Includes ownership tags and clean-up of idle resources.

How to hire
Hire Azure talent in four steps
A short, low-risk path from your brief to a working engineer. If the first engineer is not right, we replace them.
1
Share your brief
Tell us the role, stack, hours overlap and how long you need the engineer. A 20-minute call is usually enough.
2
Get vetted profiles
In about two business days you receive candidates with assessment notes, code samples and availability.
3
Interview and trial
Speak to the engineers yourself. Start with a short paid trial and continue only if the fit is right.
4
Onboard and ship
Your engineer joins stand-ups and repositories, demos weekly and is backed by a delivery lead.
Included

When should we hire Azure developers instead of AWS developers?
Azure is often the natural choice when you rely on Microsoft 365, Entra ID, .NET or SQL Server, or when Azure OpenAI is central. If you have no Microsoft ties, compare on services and team skills. Many organizations run both.
Can your Azure developers build with Azure OpenAI securely?
Yes. That means private networking where needed, role-based access to source documents, content filters, logging and token budgets. They also build evaluation sets so answer quality is measured, not guessed, as models and prompts change.
Do Azure developers need to know .NET?
Not always, since Azure hosts Python, Node.js, Java and containers equally well. But .NET knowledge helps in Microsoft-centred estates. We match the engineer to your application stack and can pair an Azure specialist with .NET developers.
Can you help migrate on-premises workloads to Azure?
Yes. We assess dependencies, choose rehost, replatform or refactor per application, set up connectivity, and move in stages with rollback plans. Databases are usually the trickiest part, so we rehearse cutover before the real date.
